Keith House is home to James Turrell’s 99th skyspace installation, Come to Good, designed to be experienced at sunrise and sunset. Inspired by the artist’s favorite Quaker meeting house in Cornwall, England, the space invites quiet contemplation as light transforms our perception of the sky through an aperture in the ceiling. Turrell recalls, “I was maybe 5 or 6, and my grandmother would begin sitting me in the Quaker meeting house. I asked my grandmother, ‘What am I supposed to do?’ and she said, ‘Just wait—we’re going inside to greet the light.’ I liked that—this idea to go inside to find that light within, literally as well as figuratively.”
A gift to Fort Worth from the Meta Alice Keith Bratten Foundation, Keith House is located at the Trailhead in the Clearfork district. Nestled within a grove of trees, its setting further enhances the sense of calm and mindfulness for which Turrell’s work is known.
On select evenings, we welcome visual artists, art historians, performers, and other guests to engage with the work in ways that deepen the experience of observing time, light, and perception as they slowly unfold.
